GKN to acquire Getrag’s Driveline Products Business

In case you haven't heard:

GKN plc announced in July 2011 its agreement to acquire the all-wheel-drive (AWD) components businesses of Getrag KG, the privately held German company controlled by the Hagenmeyer family. The businesses being acquired, together referred to as “Getrag Driveline Products”, are Getrag Corporation, a joint venture with Dana Corporation based in the United States, and Getrag All Wheel Drive AB, a joint venture with Dana Holding Corporation and Volvo Car Corporation based in Sweden.

Japanese car assemblers in Thailand meet to discuss production

Production might half due to Japanese chip import problems...  Japanese car assemblers in Thailand will meet here next week to discuss car automobile industry production which is being heavily impacted from the massive tsunami which hit Japan just over a month ago, a senior industry player said Thursday. Vallop Tiasiri, president of the Thailand Automotive Institute, said Japanese car assemblers will meet on April 22 at the industry ministry following an invitation from Permanent Secretary for Industry Vitoon Simachokdee.
